Happy Birthday, America, Home of the Brave, Land of the Free!

Happy Fourth of July to all of our fellow American friends, doggies and cats! On this day, we would like to reflect that, though there are many people living here who complain about the government, you are free to complain, the government's actions have kept your free to complain and you are still alive to complain. We just wish everyone, especially the political parties, would acknowledge the things we have in common instead of harping about the things on which we differ. We should all ultimately have the same goal and that is a free and strong country. The opinions on how we get there fill a broad spectrum but that doesn't mean anyone has to be nasty or underhanded to "win". We hope our country is around to celebrate 233 years from now ... and beyond.

Okay, enough of that political stuff. We want to talk about FOOD, the truly important topic. We see Mom getting all kinds of stuff ready. Our Aunt Sarah is here and, a little later, our cousin Jen is coming over to spend the day with us. Because it is a special day here, Mom is serving up some yummo stuff!

She has ribs, beans, corn on the cob and lemonade for lunch. Doesn't this look like a wonderful feast? We aren't getting any of it.

For dinner she has hamburgers with all of the fixins (that's a southern word for all the other stuff that makes it goooooooood). Doesn't this look yummy? We won't get any of this either.

For desert she cut up a watermelon. Do you think three women can eat this much watermelon? (We put a can in the picture so you have an idea of how much watermelon is really in the bowl!) Once again ... none for us. Sigh, sometimes it really isn't fair. Wait a minute, it is NEVER fair when we don't get the good smelling food Mom is eating!)

And, just on the outside chance they aren't anchored to the floor by all of the food they have consumed, there are cherry turnovers! We would take a picture of them after they have gorged themselves on food all day, but we don't have a wide-angle lens!

And now, for one last complaint. Do you see this? Do you have any idea what it is?

Here is a closer picture. It is watermelon rind on the OTHER SIDE OF THE FENCE!!! Mom won't share any watermelon with us but she gives the rinds to the cowsdogs. You can be sure we will be barking at them the next time we see them!

Oh, The Horror, The Indignity!

Hello all! A trifecta of entries, Mom is really making an effort to to work on our blog! Unfortunately, the topic of this entry is not so fun or impressive.

Yesterday, we walked out to see this ...

Now we are not stupid so we knew what that meant. It's not like Mom can get in that little thing! We knew our fun filled smelly hours were numbered.

Poor Roxie is always the first one to go in because, as soon as she is sure about what is going to happen, she disappears. Mom has learned this so Roxie doesn't get to see anyone get a bath before hers. If you look closely, you can see she has her tail tucked because she is not happy. The only good thing you can say about going first is you get finished first.

Andy is pretty easy going and maybe hasn't had to deal with as many baths as the rest of us. He pretty much just stands there and lets it happen.

Jake and Maggie went next but their mom showed a little more restraint and didn't snap pictures while they were in such an undignified condition. Do you hear that, Mom?

Finally it was Sammy's turn. Sammy is never too crazy about getting a bath but usually it leads to treats so he stands stoically waiting for it to all be over.

And finally, the whole reason we put up with this process! Check out our new treats! Mom and Aunt Bec have switched (or are in the process of switching) us to Blue Wilderness kibble and canned food. Mom bought some of their treats too. We can say that they are very, very yummy. We don't leave any crumbs behind!

Feeding the Cats

Today Mom really got her priorities messed up. She came home and let us out and then she filled up a bucket with some food ... but it wasn't for us! It was for something she called a CAT!

But then she went down to the pond and threw the food into the water. This is what happened next!

When Mom finally came back, we were waiting quietly by the gate. We didn't run or bark ... we were weak from starvation.

Next time she needs to feed us before she feeds those weird cats.

Question of the Day ... and Other Stuff

Does anydog remember when we told you Mom bought us some Frosty Paws?

Does anydog remember seeing any pictures of us enjoying Frosty Paws?
No? Well, maybe that because they are still in the box in the freezer!! It's the end of July? What is she waiting for ... a heat wave?

Well the good news is she says we are going to get them and soon! We know this must be true because check out this picture!

She bought all the stuff to make homemade Frosty Paws. She has seen a couple of good recipes from Nanook and Maggie (of SoCal), so she bought everything necessary and she says she is going to make them for us. We will keep you posted.

In other news, she gave us a different food treat last night. For dinner we each found part of a boiled egg in with our kibble and cottage cheese. Mom boiled an extra egg just for us! She does love us (Frosty Paws or not)! Roxie wasn't too sure about it because she doesn't like things to change too much but Sammy chowed down so fast we aren't even sure if he noticed he had something new in his bowl. Andy ate all of his too so everybody decided it was pretty good.

And last, but not least, we have a new award. Well, we will have a new award. We have been selected as the Cool Dog Site for August 11, 2007. We will be featured on their blog and be in the running for the Cool Dog Site of the Month for August. Just remember, you were our friends before we became world famous ... oh wait, we are already world famous thanks to all of our friends! Dogs Aye View is the Cool Dog Site for today so we are in good company!

Helping Others

Mom got this email this morning. She has been clicking on the Animal Rescue site button almost every day for over a year. Please consider adding the link at the end to your Favorites and clicking on the button every day too. Once you read the email, you will realize it is quick, easy and doesn't cost you a thing!

Subject: Animal Rescue - It is simple, please help
Importance: High

Hi, all you animal lovers. This is pretty simple.. Please tell ten
Friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food donated every day to abused and neglected animals!!!

It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on "feed an animal in need" for free. It's in a purple box in the middle of the page.

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know. AND THE NEAT THING IS THAT YOU CAN PUT THE LINK IN YOUR FAVORITES AND DO IT EVERYDAY!!!

AGAIN, PLEASE TELL 10 FRIENDS!!

Iams Free Food Offer

Hello everydog, cat and FuFu,

We were just reading the latest at the Blog Pound. There is always interesting stuff to read there and we really wanted to pass on the latest. Iams is offering a free bag of dog or cat food to anyone who requests a voucher (we think this is only for the USA and Canada though). All you have to do is go to IamsPromise.com. The Blog Pound made a very good point that, even if you don't eat Iams, you should get the voucher and donate it to a local rescue group. We don't eat Iams but we are willing to help other dogs and cats get a good meal.

This is what mealtime looked like at the country. Mom and Aunt Bec have this system worked out so they can get everydog the right food and the right medicine.

Sammy says all of this talk about food and that picture made him hungry.

Pink Toy Tuesday

Mom is all better today and went to work. Thanks to all of our friends who wished her a speedy recovery. It must have done the trick!

Mom was also very good. She went to the grocery store and bought more cottage cheese for us. She went by PetsMart and bought our canned dog food. She also bought some treats and some ... TOYS!!!!!

She must not realize that we know Valentine's Day was last week and these pink and purple toys are left over because no one bought them. Not that we mind, these toys are new and squeaky and we love them! There is also a brown donkey or something. We didn't look that close before we started to play.

You will also see a bag of tennis balls. Andy loves tennis balls. Mom is always going outside to bring the tennis balls back into the house. She decided some of them were starting to look a little bad so she got Andy a whole bag of new ones!

Roxie checked out the purple hedgehog but decided that wasn't the toy she wanted.

Sammy grabbed the purple hedgehog and jumped on the sofa.

Sammy likes his toy but what is Andy doing ... ?

Andy has the brown toy.

Aah! The total joy of a new toy!

Roxie has the pink hedgehog. She thinks it fits her sweet girlish personality better.

Uh ... Roxie, that doesn't look sweet ...

Now you see why we let her pick her toy first?

Monday Blues

Hey, everybody! It's Monday and not much is happening around here. Mom wasn't feeling on top of the world today so she stayed home with us. She kept us in our jail most of the day but sometimes she would sit on the sofa and let us make sure she was getting better.

Maybe Mom is scared of the birds (see previous post). Our friends were telling us about the movie "The Birds" so we asked her about it. That movie sounds really scary! Now we are glad she didn't take us to chase away those birds. What if they had gotten mad at us? And Mom says, yes, you need to be careful when you around so many birds. When they take off to fly, they leave "presents" behind that you don't want in your hair. Mom says that, so far, she has been able to get through the bird area without any incidents ... that she can see. She drives an SUV and she is short, so she doesn't really know what is happening on the top of it.

We are still hoping Mom will go to PetsMart. She used the last of our canned dog food and we are only getting kibble and cottage cheese. It's okay but we always eat the one little bite of canned food that she serves to us before we eat anything else. It's yummy! You would think she would plan ahead better. She has hungry children to feed!

Well, we need to go check on Mom. She is being very quiet and that's usually when she is getting into something she isn't supposed to mess with.

Happy Chinese New Year to all of our friends who are celebrating!

Super Bowl Party!

Well, yesterday afternoon we were minding our own business and the next thing we knew there were 14 people in our house! We knew almost everybody except two friends of our human cousin Jennifer. They brought all kinds of yummy smelling foods, too. Of course, we can only tell you how the food smelled because, out of all of these people, no one would share with us! Well, Mom shared a little bit of pita chip with Sammy and Andy but what is that when you have pizza and dallas dip (melted cheese, cooked ground sausage, tomatoes and chili peppers) in the house??

They turned on the talking box and started yelling and laughing at it! We had to bark at them constantly because they were making so much noise. We are the only ones allowed to make lots of noise in our house.

And they wouldn't stay in place. They kept getting up and going to the kitchen to get more food that they didn't intend to share with us. If they weren't going to share, the least they could have done was sit still so we could get comfortable!

Sammy did succeed in licking a couple of plates because some of our guests weren't as experienced with our "take every opportunity to eat" attitudes as Mom and Aunt Bec. Mom kept yelling at us and then the people closest to us would take the plate away. Can you believe, with all of the food they had available, they couldn't even graciously share a few crumbs?

To make matters worse (if that is even possible), Mom vacuumed the house before people arrived. She knows how much we hate that thing. We have told her to get rid of it but NOOOOO, she has to do things her way. And she moved all of our toys that we had so carefully placed on the rug in the middle of the room. She acted like our guests would not appreciate our decorating technique. How can dog toys not add class to any gathering? We would have even been willing to share ... in exchange for some food.

Everyone seemed to be pretty happy when they left. We guess hanging around us had that effect on people!

Mom then tuned to the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet so we could bark at the talking (or now barking) box. We saw a boxer and a samoyed. In the fourth quarter there was a dachsie; it was a long haired one like Copper and Hershey, but we were glad to see that a dachsie participated! There was also a golden retriever and an english bulldog and a french bulldog and a pit bull and some other dogs Mom can't remember. Those puppies need to learn some manners, though. Some of them kept kicking all of the water out of the water bowl. But, they were puppies so they have time to learn manners.

All in all, even without getting to taste any of the people food, we had a good time. We had lots of people pet us and we were the center of attention part of the time. Mom didn't throw us outside either. She was glad our guests all knew that we live here and just wanted to welcome everyone.

When is the next party? (Mom says a couple of people are coming over to watch a basketball game on the talking box tonight. How do they get those people in there and how come we can never smell them?)

Almost a Catastrophe!

We almost had a catastrophe occur tonight. Take a look at the following picture ...

The bin on the left is Andy's food. The bin on the right is Sammy's and Roxie's food. Do you notice anything odd? Well, WE noticed! It was a CATastrophe of CATastropic proportions! We have other issues with Mom but this one CATupulted to the top of the list!

Can you believe Mom let the food bin get that empty? Can you believe anyone who says she loves us would let this happen? What are we to do?

What? There's another picture to show them? What is it? Oh ...

Maybe we overreacted a little bit.
