Andy's Visit to the Vet

Today was Andy's day to go to the veterinarian. He just needed a vaccination and a routine test. Mom was so happy because she got out of there for under $100! Andy is all healthy except for a couple of little bumps on the top of his head by his left ear. The vet said they were little warts and for Mom to keep an eye on them. Mom will probably get them removed if Andy ever needs to take a nap while he gets his teeth cleaned.

Mom found out Roxie shouldn't eat anything but her canned dog food. If Mom wants to give Roxie a treat, it has to be a little bit of the canned food. So far Roxie has been eating all of her food but sometimes she is a picky eater. If she gets picky about eating that food ... well, Mom says we won't worry about that unless it happens. The special food is Hill's S/D. It looks kind of nasty to Mom but, if it will make Roxie's stones go away, she will buy it and scoop it into Roxie's bowl twice a day. Somedog asked if Roxie drinks a lot of water to help keep her bladder flushed. She drinks a normal amount of water but this food has a little bit of salt in it to encourage her to drink more water. Mom is also making sure Roxie has plenty of opportunity to go outside and do her business.

We are sorry we have been so boring talking about Roxie and her stones so much. We are a little bit worried about our sister. We love her and want her to be happy and healthy. We need that extra barking power when we are in the country!

We got another award! Shania and Macon, whose Mom writes the blog DachshundStrong, gave it to us because we make their mom smile! We think that is a very nice thing to tell someone. You know that you have touched someones life if you have made them smile.

So many of you make us smile and we would like to let all of you know that but we can only pass this award to a few of you.

Copper makes us smile when he posts funny pictures of Hershey! He also made Mom smile because he helped figure out what was wrong with Roxie.

Lorenza! How can you not smile at Lorenza and her antics? She has to be one of the most loved dachsies in Bloggerland!

And last, but certainly not least, is Pippa! He has so many problems keeping Mistress Misery in line. She is posting pictures of flowers on his blog now! We think he really misses her when she is out of town but his stories are so clever, we can't help but smile!

Thank you for all of the smiles you have sent our way. Keep up the good work!

That is so lovely of you all. I don't think my stories are clever they are just what I think. It's raining at the moment so mistress can't post flower pics up hehe.

I will try and get Misery to post up about my smiley award tomorrow. (She will be jealous though, I know)

We wrote (ie I told mistress what to put) about Roxie on DWB News in case any pups don't know about her poorlinesses.

Thanks again.

Pippa xx

Forgot to say I am pleased Andy is ok, mistress seems to think some warts come and go.

And I hope the nasty canned food works for Roxie. Have you found much out about the stones on the internet? There must be reams of info out there - somewhere.

Pippa (snoozetime now though)

Scrappy, Bailey Jean, and I are so glad to hear Roxie is doing better. We hope she is 100% soon. Scrappy is getting along pretty good, chasing the kitties, and begging for treats. But the vet says he needs to lose weight so all he gets for a treat is his nylan bone. He is not impressed but we need to get him down 5-8 pounds.

Well, company has arrived I must get going.

Get well soon Roxie....Andy and Sam take good care of her : )

Hey Roxie...I had stones too but they did surgery to take them out. Make sure you eat that weird food so you don't have to do that too.

Love,
Tucker

Hi puppies! Sorry we haven't checked in for a while - we're going to try to be better about that.
Sorry to hear about Roxie's stones! I'm having some bladder things going on right now, too, but we're not sure what yet. My pH is really high; I go in again this week for the "needle in the bladder" thing. We're hoping it's just a UTI.
congrats on the award - you always make us smile!!!
Love,
Ammy

Hey pals, glad to hear that Andy's trip to the vet was OK. Sorry to hear about Roxie's stones. I had some too (40!) but they had to be removed surgically and now I'm on Hills k/d as I'm in the early stages of kidney disease. If Roxie is eating the canned version of s/d you can make treats out of it by cutting it up and baking it in the oven. J x

We want to hear about boring Roxie's stones. Because then we know she's doing okay. It's better to bore us and keep us poseted than not.
I know you guys are getting ready to sell your house, too so if your Mom gets out painting material, get into your favorite napping spot and stay there until she's done moving stuff around otherwise your spot will be gone for who knows how long. Mom promises I can have my napping spot back soon. I don't believe her though.

Hey pals, thanks for your message. I'm having trouble sending replies to emails at the moment so I'll leave another comment here instead. If you bake the canned s/d to make treats, you can either make them softish or crispy depending on what Roxie prefers. J1 bakes k/d for about an hour in our oven, but I think it's a case of trial and error. Our oven is OLD! A word of warning though. When you bake it, it's really STINKY! J x

A vet visit for under 100 bucks? Mom says that is amazing! She complains that it's $75 just to walk through the door of our vet's clinic. Hrmph. I tell her to just save her money and not take us!! She says no way....we have to stay healthy. Glad Andy's checkup was good! And hope Roxie continues to do well :)

Peace + Paws,

Hi Roxie...we all are sending doxie love to help your stones disappear! Keep eating that weird food and hopefully you will feel better soon. My mommy would like to know if the vet told your mom what may have caused the stones or what you could do to prevent them from coming back in the future with Sammy and Andy?

xoxo,
Ricky

Hey there doogs,

I'm so glad you're all ok and that even though poor Roxie has stones, you'll be able to manage them.

(Never heard of stone management before. New topic for uni, perhaps?)

Chow for now,
