Hello all. Sorry we haven't posted in a while. It's that work thing. Mom is so busy the first week of every month she just doesn't have any creative juices to help us post.
Of course, Roxie hasn't helped any this last week.
On Saturday a week ago, Mom put us in our pen. Aunt Bec came over and she and Mom disappeared into the back of the house for a half an hour and then left the house without playing with us. Roxie was mad. So, when Mom came home and let us out, Roxie jumped into Mom's lap ... and peed on her. Mom jumped up and put all of us outside.
The next morning Mom let us out of our crates and we, the GOOD boys, ran to the back door and into the yard when Mom let us out. Roxie, the BAD girl, jumped on Mom's bed and peed. When we got back into the house we all had to go into the pen and Mom ignored us.
Later Mom started cleaning the house because people were coming over to watch the Super Bowl. When she was all finished, she let us out of the pen and Roxie just walked across the clean floor and peed and peed. When she got to the door, she stopped and squatted and finished peeing. Mom was yelling at her but Roxie just did what she wanted.
Mom locked us in the back yard when the guests started to arrive since the doors would be opening and we might try to escape. Once everyone had arrived and they had eaten most of the snacks, Mom let us back into the house. Roxie jumped up into Mom's lap and guess what she did ... AGAIN ... in front of other people????
Mom decided it was time to show Roxie who is Alpha around here and put her in the pen and told everyone to ignore her. We, the GOOD boys, got to visit with everyone and get petted and talked to. Roxie, the BAD girl, wanted out of the pen but Mom told her "No!"
Finally around the middle of the third quarter, Mom got into the pen with Roxie and sat down. Mom figured if Roxie peed on her again, Roxie was staying in the pen the rest of the night. Roxie decided to be good.
The week that has followed had no incidents ... until this morning. Mom decided to let Roxie sleep with her last night. Mom, being old, got up in the middle of the night to ... well, pee. While she was gone, Roxie walked to the middle of the bed and PEED on Mom's sheets! Oh my dog! Mom was furious. She slapped Roxie on the hip and Roxie jumped off of the bed and ran into her crate. Mom shut and locked the crate door then she took her pillow and slept in a different room.
Something tells us Roxie will never get to sleep in Mom's bed again. Whenever she gets mad about anything (Maggie was here yesterday and Mom petted her) Roxie does something really stupid. Mom says she will probably take Roxie to our doggie doctor just to make sure nothing is wrong with her, but Mom thinks Roxie's "accidents" don't just happen because Mom always seems to be the "target".
What do you think?
Sammy & Andy, the GOOD boys
Life is good. We are four dachshunds living in central Texas USA. Three of us and Mom used to live in Houston but we moved to the country and we love it! We bark at cows and birds and rabbits and turtles and squirrels ... we even barked at a copperhead snake but he didn't like it and that turned into an adventure best not repeated. Come read all about our lives!

Bad Doggie!
Hello everydog, cat and Fufu,
Andy here.
Boy was I in trouble last night. It was raining and thundering most of the evening. It started coming down really hard near Mom's office about 15 minutes before she usually leaves to come home. Since she could see all the cars just stopped because some of the roads had deep water on them, she decided to stay at the office a little longer. She finally got home about an hour and half later than normal.
Anyway, we went outside and did our business. We came back in and had dinner. We laid on the sofa with Mom while she watched a little television and then we went outside before it was time to go to bed.
Mom leaves us out for a while when it is wet outside because she knows we will eventual do what we need to do. So after about 5 minutes or so, she opens the back door. In runs Sammy. She looks outside but she doesn't see Roxie or me so she closes the door and puts Sammy in his crate. She comes back to the back door and opens it so Roxie can come running inside. Roxie goes into her crate. Mom comes back to the back door and starts whistling and calling for me but I don't come.
And I don't come.
And I don't come.
Mom is starting to get a little worried that maybe I got hurt and can't come when she calls so she gets her flashlight (torch for some of you folks) and goes out into the soggy, "water standing everywhere because it hasn't drained off yet" back yard. Fortunately it wasn't raining anymore! She is in sandals so her feet are getting all wet. She goes over to the magnolia trees and shines the light through the limbs but it is so dark she can't really see anything. She wades back behind the garage where the water is standing one or two inches deep, shining the flashlight all over the place. She looks under the magnolia trees again. Mom is really getting worried now. She decides she needs a better flashlight so she can see under the tree and heads for the house. About that time she hears some tags jingling behind her from under the tree and I decided to poke my head out. If she hadn't been so worried that I was hurt or something, I would have been in real trouble. Instead she was just glad to see me and I was okay and now we could all go to bed ... after she dried off her feet.
The moral of this story is: If you aren't going to be good and come when they call, wait until they are over being mad and are worried before you do finally show up. But be careful. Sometimes she closes the door and doesn't come back for a long, long time. By then you are really ready to come back in!

Heading Out, See You Sunday Night
Well, we are heading out this afternoon to the country. It was almost a "no go". Aunt Bec called and said Maggie and Jake were feeling bad. She wanted to keep an eye on them before she took them out. But this morning, she called and said they looked like they were feeling much better and, as long as we leave a little later than usual, we could probably leave tonight! We are so excited!!
We were afraid after last night, Mom might just leave us here and go without us. We wouldn't come into the house when it was time for dinner ... well, Sammy came but he is always hoping it is mealtime! Andy finally came in the house but he was too busy playing with his tennis ball to eat. Mom had put his bowl down and turned around. She heard a dog behind her and turned around to find SAMMY eating out of Andy's bowl! Oh, you don't even want to know what she said to him but he went outside as soon as she opened the door and pointed. She was a little worried because we take Bendryl and she puts it in some soft dog food and Sammy ate his and Andy's. In the meantime, Roxie is outside barking at something and won't come inside. Mom gave Andy a little more food and called for Roxie again. Mom didn't want to put the cottage cheese or soft (canned) food in Roxie's bowl until she was in the house. By the time Roxie came in, Mom had already put the extra food away. Roxie kept looking at Mom wondering where the good stuff was. Roxie never did get any of it last night. She had to settle for cold, hard kibble. And she didn't get her after dinner treat either. Poor Roxie.
But this morning everything is back to normal. We came when Mom called. We ate our own food. We got our treats. And later today, we go to our land and walk around on it and bark at cowdogs and everything else.
You probably won't hear from us until maybe Sunday but probably Monday. We hope everyone has a great weekend. We will get Mom to take lots of pictures and post them. She has been lazy and not been posting pictures. How can you admire our beauty if you don't have any pictures to look at???
