Yes, we know we haven't posted in a longtime. And we know we haven't visited our friends. We are lucky to even still have friends!
We just wanted to let everydog know we are okay.
We did have an incident on Sunday. Mom and Aunt Bec were outside all day weeding the flower beds. That meant we had to guard and bark at things and check the perimeter for hours. We didn't get our usual 8 hour nap. At the end of the day they were collecting everything into the wheelbarrow. Well Maggie had gone into the house but wanted back outside to check on the activity. Sammy was barking and barking at the wheelbarrow. Mom tried to catch him but he kept running to the other side. That ended up getting Maggie over-stimulated and she attacked Jake. Roxie then attacked Maggie. Roxie had Maggie on her back and was holding on to her ear. Mom and Aunt Bec turned the hose onto them but Roxie wouldn't let go. Mom was worried about Maggie so she went into the fight. When she grabbed Roxie's collar and pulled, Maggie was pulled along. Mom decided that was not a good thing so she stopped pulling. She put her hand on either side of Roxie's mouth to break her bite and Maggie saw something she could reach. OUCH!!!! (That was sort of what Mom said.) Mom reached in with the other hand to loosen Maggie's bite and Maggie got the other hand. OUCH!! (That was Mom again.) Mom, the sissy, yanked her hands back and ran to the house leaving poor Aunt Bec with the two dogs. Aunt Bec decided Mom's approach didn't work so she would try something else. She ended up grabbing the collars and twisting Roxie's enough to make her let go of Maggie. Now she had an angry dog by the collar in each hand. Fortunately, they finally settled down. Aunt Bec followed the blood trail to find Mom in the kitchen with her hand stuck in a glass of ice water. After some Hydrogen Peroxide, antibiotic cream, bandages and aspirin Mom started to feel better.
Other than that it has been pretty boring around here.
We always have the best of intentions to post more but they never seem to happen. We aren't even going to promise to do better this time. You will just have to be surprised.
Life is good. We are four dachshunds living in central Texas USA. Three of us and Mom used to live in Houston but we moved to the country and we love it! We bark at cows and birds and rabbits and turtles and squirrels ... we even barked at a copperhead snake but he didn't like it and that turned into an adventure best not repeated. Come read all about our lives!

Happy Easter and Maggie's Secret Place
Happy Easter, everyone! We hope everyone and everydog had a great day!
Well, Aunt Bec, Maggie and Jake just left to go home. We hate when they leave. It is going to be so nice when we share a yard and can be together every day!
Maggie was busy this weekend! First she found our travel crates that Mom had dis-assembled so they wouldn't take up so much space. Mom put all three of our sheepskin beds in the top one so there is a nice soft and comfy spot to sit! If you look you can just see Maggie ...

Surprise!

A girl just can't find a quiet place to sleep these days .

Enough! I'm outta here!

But that wasn't Maggie's secret place! Today she went out to the yard and started exploring around the whirlpool spa. There is a place where you can get under the spa and hide. Aunt Bec found Maggie in there and blocked it off! But Maggie was clever enough to get in again. Aunt Bec blocked it off better the second time but not before Maggie left her collar and tags in there where Mom and Aunt Bec couldn't find them. We guess leaving your tags behind is like planting a flag and claiming ownership! It's Maggie's place until they take the spa apart and retrieve Maggie's tags!

Just A Quick Note
We were just cruising through our dachsie friends blogs and found a poem on Maggie's blog. It's all about how God decided to make dachsies. We liked it so much, we want to share it with people who might not visit Maggie's blog yet.

Turn Out the Lights, The Pawty's Over
Well, Aunt Bec got home from Ohio last night and the first thing she did was come over to our house get her furbabies. We were all glad to see her and barked out a "WELCOME HOME" as loud as we could so she would know we meant it. We think she really appreciated it; almost as much as she appreciated all the welcome home kisses we gave her. And we are pretty sure the neighbors knew we were happy and having a wonderful reunion!
Maggie and Jake must have really missed their mom because they followed her around. They weren't always right next to her but, if Aunt Bec was outside, Maggie and Jake were outside. If Aunt Bec was inside, Maggie and Jake were inside. They weren't going to let her slip away without them again!
We played together a little bit more but then it was time for Aunt Bec to take Maggie and Jake home.
We love having our cousins over but it makes it difficult to get enough petting and tummy rubs and loving when Mom is by herself and has to split her time between five dogs. So, as much as we like having them over, we were not too sad when they left to go to their house. After they left, Mom loved on all of us and then we turned out the lights and went to bed so we could be all rested to face another day.

Happy Fathers Day
Happy Fathers Day to all the dads out there. We don't have a dad but we have a Grandpa and we want to wish him a Happy Fathers Day. Since Mom has to be mom and dad for us, we want to wish her a Happy Fathers Day too. Of course, we show her how much we love her every day but it's nice to make a special point of telling her.
It is raining AGAIN! It has been raining every afternoon since forever! Rain really messes with our going outside and barking. Maybe we should send this rain to Charlie Kelly-Church. It worked last time!
In our last post, we showed you a picture of Maggie. Zach wanted to know how old she is because she has a "little" silver on her face. Well, Maggie is a rescue so we don't know for sure, but our doggie doctor says she is probably about five or six. He says her face makes her look older than she is but her teeth are a good indication that she is still plenty young. She has had puppies so we don't know if someone used her to make puppies or if she was on the streets and nature took its course. She's not having anymore puppies though. Dachshund Rescue of Houston took care of that! We don't want to add to the over-population of unwanted dogs!
When Zach asked the question, we realized you don't get to see Maggie in too many pictures. It's not because Mom doesn't like Maggie (because she likes Maggie a lot!), it's because the times when she is around Maggie are when we are in the country. Mom takes most of her pictures when Aunt Bec decides to take a nap and guess who gets to nap with Aunt Bec. If Mom took that picture, she would be swimming in the fish pond and her camera would be broken ... not that Aunt Bec is really violent or anything.
Mom took more pictures of the fish pond when we were out at the country around the end of May so she wants to post some of them. Since it is sort of her day, we will let her do it. Just in case you forgot, this pond is on Grandpa's land. Our land is to the left of it.

And here is a picture of a colorful bird that is eats the catfish. Grandpa does not like these birds for that reason.

And finally, because this is a blog about dachsies, here is a picture of all five of us in jail. Mom had to make the jail bigger than usual because there are two more of us in there. It starts off looking a little better but we jump against the bars and the pieces slide across the floor until they come to rest against the table. Mom says you are all going to think she is messy. (Hey, the truth hurts sometimes.)

The More the Merrier!
Hello All! We have a houseful this weekend. Aunt Bec went to see a friend who lives in Ohio and Mom is taking care of us and Maggie and Jake. It's almost as good as being at the country house but we miss Aunt Bec. Maggie really misses her mom as you can see here.

You can see Andy laying down behind her. We slept a lot today because it was raining and Mom wouldn't let us run in and out all day long. Sammy found a comfortable place to sleep.

Roxie found a comfy place too but she wanted Mom to leave her alone and put the camera away!

Jake just takes up position near the door hoping Mom will open it back up. Jake LOVES to be outside as much as possible!

But when it's mealtime, we all wake up.

Since it takes a little while to make five meals, the girls are smart enough to find the comfortable places to sit. Mom says it a little like an obstacle course in the kitchen!

But we did finally get our dinner!

And finally, Roxie wants you to see what a poor little girl she is ... doesn't this just pull at your heartstrings?

One Year Anniversary and Maggie & Roxie
Hi everydog, cat and Fufu!
First we want to congratulate Dogs With Blogs because today is the one year anniversary! We didn't find out about DWB until June but we have really enjoyed being a member and getting to know so many other dogs ... with blogs! Without DWB, we wouldn't have even known there were so many interesting blogs to visit and read. Thank you, Opy, Charlie, Brooke and Greg!
Ok, now for some more country pictures. For those of you who have been reading our blog for a while, you know that Roxie and Maggie aren't always very nice to each other. Mom and Aunt Bec were surprised to see this!

Roxie really settled in for a nap and Maggie was already comfortable so they just stayed there.

The girls did stay in the house a little more than the boys. Don't they know that the really exciting stuff happens outside??

Just a Quick Note ...
Sammy wants you to know that he went to see our doggie doctor on Saturday and he has lost 1/10 of a pound! That is proof that Mom is starving him. Mom says it probably has more to do with the fact that she didn't feed him breakfast until after they got home.
Maggie and Jake and Aunt Bec came over to visit last night. They got here before Mom got home from work so Aunt Bec fed us our dinner. Somehow Mom knew that we had already gotten our dinner so Mom didn't feed us again. Rats!
Aunt Bec gave us each a snausage. That was wonderful but we had to share with Maggie and Jake. Mom said we wouldn't even notice. It really is okay because we love our cousins. It's the best fun when all five us run and bark at things together. For some reason Aunt Bec and Mom don't like us to bark at things when we are in our back yard. They say the neighbors are not as appreciative of our fun.
Mom let us outside a little more tonight. She says it's going to get cold and rainy and we won't want to be outside tomorrow. We hope it doesn't get cold and rainy because we don't like cold and rainy! Huskies need to keep the cold up north and out of where we live. Mom says she needs to buy more paper towels.
We didn't get any snausages tonight. Mom says she would give them to us if we would get off of her but we like to lay on top of her. We would rather do that than get snausages.
That's all. Life is still boring. Mom is working a little late each day which means we have even less time for something interesting to happen. If something does happen, we will be sure to tell you all about it.

Finally ... The Christmas Loot!
Just a quick reminder that this is what our tree looked like after Mom and Aunt Bec decorated it so carefully.

And this is what our tree looked like on Christmas morning. Please note the new arrangement of the ornaments. Also note that Mom and Aunt Bec did not use the tripod to take this picture so it is the picture that is blurry and not your vision.

This is all of the Christmas loot that we got. This is just our loot. Maggie and Jake took their loot home but you will see it in some of the pictures. The three cans of Snausages came from Grandma and Grandpa. Mom has not opened them yet but we will get to that ... (Oh, and don't look too closely at the edge of the area rug. We decided the edging could be removed. Mom did not agree.)

We have not been allowed to play with these toys. Mom says they are on vacation and will return later. Why did some of our toys get to go somewhere without us and how did she get this picture that looks like our sofa?

Here is a picture of the area rug after Roxie "played" with one of the toys.

Hmm ... it might have been Andy. He looks like he is making a run to get away from the evidence.

These are the toys that are in the toy ER (emergency room) awaiting surgery before they can come back to play with us. The square green one on the left has been restuffed with the grisly remains that were left on the rug. They just don't make toys like they used to ...

Maggie sat very ladylike on the other sofa and enjoyed her toys.

This is Sammy with Red Bear. Sammy picked Red Bear out of all of the toys.

Mom realized that Sammy loves Red Bear so much that she'd better have a Red Bear 2. Here is Red Bear 1 already missing an arm thanks to Andy and Red Bear 2 who is somewhere we can't get to him. Sammy sleeps with Red Bear and carries him around. In the morning, Sammy stretches and then goes back into his crate to get Red Bear. He runs into the den and drops him on the rug before he goes outside. When Sammy comes back into the house, he picks up Red Bear and takes him to wherever they are going.

And to end this exciting entry, we have a picture of Hot Diggity. Mama Lana sent him to us from Florida! We don't get to play with him but Mom likes him so he is going to get a place of honor ... that we can't reach. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be short.

And now, the Snausages: Mom says we can have them but she gets to decide how many and when. We think she is mistaken because Grandma and Grandpa gave them to us. We are going to ask them the next time we see them. They should be able to set Mom straight!
Texas, one of our dog friends, requested pictures. We hope this satisfies him!

Maggie, Downspout Raider: Never Say Never
Ok, after this one, you are safe from this abuse for a while. Mom thinks she needs a better camera to work with before everyone decides she has no talent. We say maybe she should stick to this camera so she has something to blame it on ...
And now, here the is the sequel to "Maggie, Downspout Raider". We present "Maggie, Downspout Raider: Never Say Never".

Maggie, Downspout Raider
Mom laughed at this one. She says if you thought the other one was artsy, wait until you see this one. In her best "Professor" voice, she says "The movie is a metaphor for Maggie's life. She cannot decide how to proceed. At times she has lost her focus, particularly when others distract her, but she is able to regain it. Just like in life, she finds few answers but she perseveres."
We say watch how dirty Maggie's nose gets and watch her tail wag and wag and wag and wag and ...
There is a sequel premiering shortly.

Our Trip - Part 2
Once we were up and running for the day, Mom and Aunt Bec fed us. Aunt Bec made coffee for herself and tea for Mom and then they sat outside to watch the sunrise and watch us chase shadows. The cowdogs were all around us so we had to be vigilant.
We spotted one trying to get to us from the front gate. We chased her off.

Because we were surrounded, we posted sentries at the corners to keep a lookout for other intruders. Jake is stretching to get a little better look around.

Roxie is on the patrol.

Later on Roxie and Maggie checked out the fence line together. They told us they would let us know if they found way to escape to the field again.

In between all of this, we had to check on Mom and Aunt Bec to make sure they had plenty of opportunities to pet us and give us treats. It was a busy day. We were ready for the sun to set so we could get some sleep.

(This is a pretty sunset from an earlier visit. The sky was so clear this time, Mom couldn't get any pictures with color so she's taking poetic license with this one.)
Tomorrow we will tell you about our last day there and the fun things we did. Aunt Bec took a video with Mom's camera but didn't turn it off soon enough. If Mom can figure out a way to edit it and cut the end off ... we will have our first video for you!
