Turn Out the Lights, The Pawty's Over

Well, Aunt Bec got home from Ohio last night and the first thing she did was come over to our house get her furbabies. We were all glad to see her and barked out a "WELCOME HOME" as loud as we could so she would know we meant it. We think she really appreciated it; almost as much as she appreciated all the welcome home kisses we gave her. And we are pretty sure the neighbors knew we were happy and having a wonderful reunion!

Maggie and Jake must have really missed their mom because they followed her around. They weren't always right next to her but, if Aunt Bec was outside, Maggie and Jake were outside. If Aunt Bec was inside, Maggie and Jake were inside. They weren't going to let her slip away without them again!

We played together a little bit more but then it was time for Aunt Bec to take Maggie and Jake home.

We love having our cousins over but it makes it difficult to get enough petting and tummy rubs and loving when Mom is by herself and has to split her time between five dogs. So, as much as we like having them over, we were not too sad when they left to go to their house. After they left, Mom loved on all of us and then we turned out the lights and went to bed so we could be all rested to face another day.

The More the Merrier!

Hello All! We have a houseful this weekend. Aunt Bec went to see a friend who lives in Ohio and Mom is taking care of us and Maggie and Jake. It's almost as good as being at the country house but we miss Aunt Bec. Maggie really misses her mom as you can see here.

You can see Andy laying down behind her. We slept a lot today because it was raining and Mom wouldn't let us run in and out all day long. Sammy found a comfortable place to sleep.

Roxie found a comfy place too but she wanted Mom to leave her alone and put the camera away!

Jake just takes up position near the door hoping Mom will open it back up. Jake LOVES to be outside as much as possible!

But when it's mealtime, we all wake up.

Since it takes a little while to make five meals, the girls are smart enough to find the comfortable places to sit. Mom says it a little like an obstacle course in the kitchen!

But we did finally get our dinner!

And finally, Roxie wants you to see what a poor little girl she is ... doesn't this just pull at your heartstrings?

Patrolling the Yard and Find the Cowdog

Okay! now it's time to tell you some more about our trip!

Here is a picture of Roxie and our cousin Jake checking out the fence line.
You have to look for Jake but he is really there!

Andy was keeping an eye out for things happening on the other side of the fence!

Sammy was doing his part too! And Grandpa will be happy to see he wasn't in the flowerbeds!

And guess what we saw on the other side of the fence! There were cowdogs down by Grandpa's pond! See the black one on the right, she is in the next picture. Can you find her?

She's looking right at you!

We also got to see some pretty flowers. This is a morning glory.

The cowdogs have been multiplying! We will show you pictures of the the baby cowdogs next time!

Bluebonnets ... The State Flower of Texas

It is the end of bluebonnet season here. The bluebonnets bloom in early and mid-April but there were still a few blooms in the corner of the yard.

The boys weren't afraid to show that they have a softer side and can stop to smell the bluebonnets.

Just a Quick Note ...

Sammy wants you to know that he went to see our doggie doctor on Saturday and he has lost 1/10 of a pound! That is proof that Mom is starving him. Mom says it probably has more to do with the fact that she didn't feed him breakfast until after they got home.

Maggie and Jake and Aunt Bec came over to visit last night. They got here before Mom got home from work so Aunt Bec fed us our dinner. Somehow Mom knew that we had already gotten our dinner so Mom didn't feed us again. Rats!

Aunt Bec gave us each a snausage. That was wonderful but we had to share with Maggie and Jake. Mom said we wouldn't even notice. It really is okay because we love our cousins. It's the best fun when all five us run and bark at things together. For some reason Aunt Bec and Mom don't like us to bark at things when we are in our back yard. They say the neighbors are not as appreciative of our fun.

Mom let us outside a little more tonight. She says it's going to get cold and rainy and we won't want to be outside tomorrow. We hope it doesn't get cold and rainy because we don't like cold and rainy! Huskies need to keep the cold up north and out of where we live. Mom says she needs to buy more paper towels.

We didn't get any snausages tonight. Mom says she would give them to us if we would get off of her but we like to lay on top of her. We would rather do that than get snausages.

That's all. Life is still boring. Mom is working a little late each day which means we have even less time for something interesting to happen. If something does happen, we will be sure to tell you all about it.

Finally ... The Christmas Loot!

Just a quick reminder that this is what our tree looked like after Mom and Aunt Bec decorated it so carefully.

And this is what our tree looked like on Christmas morning. Please note the new arrangement of the ornaments. Also note that Mom and Aunt Bec did not use the tripod to take this picture so it is the picture that is blurry and not your vision.

This is all of the Christmas loot that we got. This is just our loot. Maggie and Jake took their loot home but you will see it in some of the pictures. The three cans of Snausages came from Grandma and Grandpa. Mom has not opened them yet but we will get to that ... (Oh, and don't look too closely at the edge of the area rug. We decided the edging could be removed. Mom did not agree.)

We have not been allowed to play with these toys. Mom says they are on vacation and will return later. Why did some of our toys get to go somewhere without us and how did she get this picture that looks like our sofa?

Here is a picture of the area rug after Roxie "played" with one of the toys.

Hmm ... it might have been Andy. He looks like he is making a run to get away from the evidence.

These are the toys that are in the toy ER (emergency room) awaiting surgery before they can come back to play with us. The square green one on the left has been restuffed with the grisly remains that were left on the rug. They just don't make toys like they used to ...

Maggie sat very ladylike on the other sofa and enjoyed her toys.

This is Sammy with Red Bear. Sammy picked Red Bear out of all of the toys.

Mom realized that Sammy loves Red Bear so much that she'd better have a Red Bear 2. Here is Red Bear 1 already missing an arm thanks to Andy and Red Bear 2 who is somewhere we can't get to him. Sammy sleeps with Red Bear and carries him around. In the morning, Sammy stretches and then goes back into his crate to get Red Bear. He runs into the den and drops him on the rug before he goes outside. When Sammy comes back into the house, he picks up Red Bear and takes him to wherever they are going.

And to end this exciting entry, we have a picture of Hot Diggity. Mama Lana sent him to us from Florida! We don't get to play with him but Mom likes him so he is going to get a place of honor ... that we can't reach. Sometimes it doesn't pay to be short.

And now, the Snausages: Mom says we can have them but she gets to decide how many and when. We think she is mistaken because Grandma and Grandpa gave them to us. We are going to ask them the next time we see them. They should be able to set Mom straight!

Texas, one of our dog friends, requested pictures. We hope this satisfies him!

Our Trip - Part 2

Once we were up and running for the day, Mom and Aunt Bec fed us. Aunt Bec made coffee for herself and tea for Mom and then they sat outside to watch the sunrise and watch us chase shadows. The cowdogs were all around us so we had to be vigilant.

We spotted one trying to get to us from the front gate. We chased her off.

Because we were surrounded, we posted sentries at the corners to keep a lookout for other intruders. Jake is stretching to get a little better look around.

Roxie is on the patrol.

Later on Roxie and Maggie checked out the fence line together. They told us they would let us know if they found way to escape to the field again.

In between all of this, we had to check on Mom and Aunt Bec to make sure they had plenty of opportunities to pet us and give us treats. It was a busy day. We were ready for the sun to set so we could get some sleep.

(This is a pretty sunset from an earlier visit. The sky was so clear this time, Mom couldn't get any pictures with color so she's taking poetic license with this one.)

Tomorrow we will tell you about our last day there and the fun things we did. Aunt Bec took a video with Mom's camera but didn't turn it off soon enough. If Mom can figure out a way to edit it and cut the end off ... we will have our first video for you!
