Where to Start

First off, we need to thank our good friends Erin, Bubbles and Texas for our new award!

The Friend Blog Award
These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.

We have seen this award given to so many good bloggers and now some of our good friends like us enough to give it to us! We are going to have to think hard about who we can pass it to.

We had a little accident at the house. Mom noticed something on Andy's nose and tried to clean it off. It didn't come off. Mom kept an eye on it and decided that Andy had burned his nose. It didn't look like it was bothering him but Mom kept looking at it to make sure no problems developed. The scab fell off today and this is how Andy's nose looks now.

See that pink spot? It should be black. Feel free to tell Mom she is a bad mom for letting her baby in the kitchen when the oven was hot. Andy is very inquisitive and that is the only thing Mom can think that he could get close enough to that would burn his nose. Andy is still very inquisitive and will probably burn his nose again unless Mom is more careful. (We were going say you could feel free to tell Mom to vacuum the rug but, since we don't like the beast, we aren't going to mention it.)

Remember in our last entry we talked about the visit from the possum. Here is the empty spot after he left. He was right next to the Texas Mountain Laurel (that bush thing).

Trust us, it was a lot more exciting with the possum there.

Mom and Aunt Bec were out feeding the catfish the other day and they decided to go exploring. Mom went south of the catfish pond and was looking around. She found this.

It is the jawbone of a cow. The top part was back there too but Mom opted to only bring out one part. She showed it to Grandpa and he said he remembered when the cow died. According to Grandpa, a dead cow stinks for a long time and no one is ever willing to go get it to take it someplace else to stink. Grandpa said it has happened twice in the last 12 years. We are hoping we will get to smell it. Mom doesn't seem to be so excited about the prospect.

We had some BIG birds come visit the other day. Two of them were sitting on top of the tree and Mom tried to take a picture, but they flew off. Mom ended up getting some of them standing on the ground. If you have seen our pictures, you know how far away the gate is from us. With that in mind, imagine how big these birds are! If you aren't sure where the birds are, click on the pictures to make them bigger. But, a word of warning, not all of the black spots you see on the ground are birds. Remember, there are cows out there.

See what a wild kingdom we live in?

And for a final comment on the wild kingdom ... even though we didn't see it and Mom does not have any pictorial proof, she says she was driving out on Monday morning and a coyote ran across the road in front of her. She is lucky we are fearless beasts defending our homeland. We would have chased that coyote off if he had been here by the house!

Ok, now to decide who we will give the bloggers award to

We looked back through Moma and the Mommy's blog and didn't see where they have gotten the award (or at least had a chance to mention it) so we want to give it to them.
We don't think our friend Copper has gotten the award yet either so we want to give it to him too!
And we just love our friends at Beagledom! They have some big paws to fill and they really make their dads happy. They make us happy too!
We also want to give the award to a new friend of ours. Her name is Zoie Belle and she is a pretty little girl.
And next we want to give this award to Valentin, Heidi and Pogo. All three of these dachsies have some special needs and their mom is a very special person.

We know that is only five instead of eight but we want to get this posted and we are having trouble finding blogs we know who haven't already gotten the award. We know there are others who are deserving of this award. We will continue our search for them. For those who are listed, please remember to post the award AND the comments directly below it.

This is your friend Valentin. Roxie, Sammy and Andy, I know what big brave doxie hunters we all are, but coyotes are not to be messed with. I tried to hunt one once that lives behind our Aunty Ruth's house. My mom was really upset and came chasing after me. She says that we are just "little cocktail wiennies" for these coyotes.

Please don't get eaten, we want to stay friends with you for a long, long time

Love, your pals Valentin, Heidi Ho Ho and Pogo

Those are big birds! We have some like that around here too but they never travel in packs like that!!! Mom says she hopes your Mom never has to deal with the smell of a dead cow. AND I have a mesage for your Mom. You are not a bad Mom!!!

Hi guys,
Hmmm, I am sure you are all brave, but my advice is to stay away from coyotes. I have never seen them before, but I have watched them on Animal Planet and boy are they scary!!
Hope that Andy's nose heals soon.. it must have hurt big time!! (psst.. our mom has a message for your mom, she says that she is not a bad mom at all.)

It sounds like you do live in a wild kingdom!! Not us.....we live in a boring old house with not much excitement passing by our house!!
