Dust is Good! And Ice is Bad.

Hello all you doggies and kitties (and humans too)!

This weekend has been a doggie challenge. Aunt Bec went to Houston so all five of us dachsies have depended upon one human for all of our needs. You don't even want to try to imagine the frustration. She has stayed home to take care of us but she has taken it upon herself to find other things to do. So far she has washed her sheets (because thinks they need washing after we sleep in the big bed with her for an hour or so a day. We say who sleeps in them all night??), swept the floor, vacuumed the rug, loaded and unloaded the dishwasher, washed the bathroom rugs and the dog bedding, cleaned out the rest of the old food from the refrigerator (Aunt Bec did the first and more efficient cleaning)and then stood in front of the hutch (a piece of furniture with shelves) and took each item off and rubbed it with a piece of cloth before she put it back. When she was finished, it looked exactly like it did when she started but now she had a cloth with dirt on it. She called it something like Dusty Doodles. We think Dusty is more fun than what she did. And, for the record, she did the same thing to the ceiling fans in her bedroom, the living room and the kitchen. Dusty is definitely more fun.

We meant to blog about this last weekend. It was cold, cold, cold here. Mom decided to take some pictures. We could either wait at the gate and bark at her or we could go back into the warm house and get our breakfast that Aunt Bec was putting together. You'll notice that there are no dachsies in the following pictures.

This is what it looked like on the other side of our fence. Even the cowdogs were missing. At least they had enough sense to hide from the cold, icy weather. In case you are wondering, all of the grass is frozen so what you see is a layer of ice as far as you can see. We know lots of people are getting snow already but we live in Texas and it is still Autumn! We shouldn't have weather like this until January or February!

This is a picture looking the other direction. It all looked cold to us so we went to get breakfast. If she is foolish enough to go out in that weather, she shouldn't expect us to try to protect her. Besides, she doesn't let us out there. She says the fences keep big cowdogs in but they are not secure enough to keep in little dogs. So? How does that include us? We are BIG dogs. Just ask those cowdogs who are afraid of us. Why would they be afraid of little dogs?

And finally, here is a picture of a natural phenomenon. Mom looked over at the pond and couldn't figure out what she was seeing. It turns out that the pond is still warm from the sunshine and the air has cooled down so the moisture is rising like steam from the top of the pond. We wanted to show you something that many of you may never have seen. It was new to Mom, the former city girl. We hope you find it interesting!

Hi, friends!
I don't get all that cleaning either! My mom says she feels better when everything is clean but....
Looking at those pictures I can imagine how cold is there!
Stay inside and choose a warm spot to sleep.

What a great picture of the steam. Our girl has a bathtub in the back yard that does that when she takes the lid off of it.

It looks really cold where you are. It's still pretty warm here. Hope you guys stay warm!
