Heavy on My Mind

Hello, everydoggie. Roxie here.

It has been a terrible day. Mom took me to the doggie doctor. There wasn't anything wrong with me but Mom takes us in for our semi-annual check-ups to make sure we are healthy and to catch if there are any problems she hasn't noticed. I really don't like going to the doggie doctor. They are all very nice but ... they DO things to me. And it smells like animals I have never seen.

When we got there, I was a sweet girl and walked inside without any problem. Once we got inside though, I started shaking because I was so scared. I gave Mom my best "can we go home now" look but she wouldn't do it. She said since we were there, we might as well stay. I thought that was terrible logic! And they say dogs don't always think right?!?

Anyway, we went back to an examination room and I started to shake even more!! I remember these rooms. They DO things to you! Oh, I said that already ...

They took me back and clipped my glamour nails. They took a "sample" and I won't even go into the indignity involved in that! They weighed me. Finally they took me back to Mom. But that wasn't the end of it.

The doctor looked in ears. And he looked in my mouth ... and scraped off a little tartar from my teeth. He gave me a shot. And he told my mom that I had gained a pound! Me? Gained weight? I am the picture of Ruebenesque beauty. Surely he didn't mean to imply otherwise! But he said, smaller treats because extra weight is bad for my back. So now Mom is telling me I am chubby. I am not chubby! I am Ruebenesque! Other than that, I am the picture of dachsie health. He does think I am a pretty girl so I might be able to forgive him ... eventually.

Finally we came home and I could sit on my sofa and sulk. Mom says if I get off of the sofa occasionally, I might not be so ... Ruebenesque. I'm not talking to her at the moment.

hello Roxie, mistress and I think you are beautiful, although to be honest we don't know what weight a dachsie should be.

If you can jump on your sofa you can't be too fat, I mean rubenesque..

I don't get treats - what are they? Do I need them? Will I find them when we go camping? Ruffs from Pipps.

Just think of it as a day alone with Mom at the spa!

I think you are perfect just as you are. Maybe you will get to chase cowdogs more often now that you are landowners. Just think how far you can chase them with all those acres. It should knock off that extra pound in no time. Then after all the hard chasing is done you can relax with a 'small' treat. Hmmm. Sounds good.

I weigh 62 pounds and my vet says I'm perfect. If you weigh less than 62, I'd get a second opinion.

ps: Me and my brother think "Ruebenesque" looks good!

Hiya Roxie,
Well done - gotta teach your Mom for saying such mean things to you. After you eat only what she feeds you right? So any weight gain is not your fault.
We still love you the way you are!!

Hey Roxie!

For some reason we missed this post so we're just catching up. Don't let anyone make you feel bad about your weight, there's just more to love. (like me)

Kisses,
Dot
