Dachsie Nurses

Well, we finally get Mom back to a regular schedule of helping us with the blog and *BAM* she is down for the two days. She went to bed around 10:00 on Sunday night and, other than necessary, she stayed in bed until Tuesday morning at 11:00. Even then she only moved to the sofa. When she was on the sofa, we watched her every minute. And we each tried to give her a bath. We didn't have any sponges so we just used our tongues. (We don't want to tell her but she REALLY needed a bath by Tuesday!) We also tried to get her to go to the kitchen for food. She didn't eat very much and that sure makes it difficult to get snacks out of her.

Fortunately she is a very responsible Mom because, even though she just wanted to curl up into a little ball and disappear, she got up and let us out and let us in and fed us and let us out again and let us in again. On Monday morning she put us in our play area that she uses when she is at work but she didn't leave the house and we didn't even bark at her. We wanted to be with her to make sure she was okay, but we just guarded the house and kept very quiet. She even put us to bed at 8:15 on Monday night but we were good and understood that she really didn't feel good.

We hope you appreciate how difficult it is for dachshunds to be very quiet. Ask Copper or Hershey or Skooch or Lady and Daisy! They might not always be very vocal but we bet they know how to be!

Anyway, Wednesday morning she went to work. We could tell she wasn't completely back to normal but it made us feel better to see that our routine was coming back. We know she has a lot of work to do after missing two whole days but, as long as she comes home and feeds us, it will all be okay.

See how good we were at nursing our Mom back to health?

Oh, and we were going to post pictures of Mom as we nursed her back to health but she had different ideas. Humans can be so selfish sometimes!

Hi Roxie, Sammy and Andy,
Sorry to hear that mom was sick. Boy do I have heaps of sympathy. I've been feeling rather unwell myself. Fortunately my cats don't bark like Daschies and just lay quiet for lots of cuddles when I sleep late.

Well done Daschsie Nurses.

So glad to hear you were sucessful at nursing her back to health. Licking always helps. Next time you can also try getting really close to her throat, like lay on her chest. That is very effective. I try to bathe my Mom as often as I can, especially if she has been exercising.

On being quiet ... as I tell my Dad, it is in my job description to bark and defend my home. Barking is what I do best, after loving.

You guys are SOOOOO great! I bet your Mom would still be sick if it wasn't for your careful care. Tell your Mom we all hope she is back to 100% soon so you can be your noisy little selves.

I have it all figured out...the humans don't take care of us...we take care of them. Without us what would their lives be like??? I think it would be sad and lonely not to mention dull. Good work on bringing your human back to normal.

Hey guys,

Your poor momma :-( Hope she is feeling better. Good job looking after her though !

Also, just a wee reminder to get us a pic for the DWB calender as soon as you can - we still have a bit of time before the deadline - but SHD (stupid human dad) would like to start working on it shortly.

Thanks heaps !

Love

Opy

Good job of nursing your mom back to health! I always thought that dog licks are like good magic. You and your mom are proof of that!

By the way, my friend's friend is looking for a dachshund to be pals with her current dachshund. Do you have any resources for Penn, NJ, or Delaware area? Or do you know of any breeders?
