The Secret Revealed and Our First Anniversary of Blogging

Today we can tell the secret! We are going to work on this entry early even though we can't post it until this afternoon. Our friends made some good guesses - a new dachsie-limo, a pool, a summer house in the country. Well, Copper should be a detective because he figured it out! Mom and Aunt Bec bought 20 acres out in the country next to Grandpa's 40 acres. And Uncle John bought another 20 acres next to Grandpa's.

Here is a quick history about the land. Our great-great-great-great-great grandpa got some land in 1834. It has been passed down through generations and Grandpa and his cousin have each owned 40 acres of it after they inherited it from their parents. There is even a family cemetery that was established in 1838. Today Grandpa's cousin sold her 40 acres to Mom, Aunt Bec and Uncle John! Mom and Aunt Bec started talking about wanting to buy the land from Grandpa's cousin last year but thought, if it happened at all, it would be years from now. Well, it wasn't even one year before it happened!

This picture is from the front porch of Grandma and Grandpa's country house looking toward Mom and Aunt Bec's land. It was rainy that day so you can't see much. Well, there isn't really much to see. Right now it is just land with some trees and cowdogs on it but some day it will have our house on it, maybe even in the same place where the original homestead was built back in the 1830s! You probably won't be able to see Mom and Aunt Bec's house from Grandma and Grandpa's house but everyone will know they are close. And there are more cousins on the land next to ours.



We looked for some other pictures to share with you but they all look pretty much the same and, even though our human relatives are excited about this, we don't expect our blogging buddies to want to look at a bunch of pictures of empty land. That is pretty boring.

We are all going out to the country house near the end of April. We are going to walk around the land and look at where the original homestead was built and decide if that is where we want to build. We have plenty of time to do all of this stuff because we can do it when we want to do it. But now when we bark at the cowdogs, we will be telling them to not poop on our land!!

Oh, and tell Mom we did not blab this all over the Internet. We are only telling you, our closest friends!

Which reminds us of the other part of this blog entry. Exactly one year ago today, Andy made an entry titled "Andy". It was our very first entry. We were inspired to blog by Isabella, Zach, Cubby, Cairo and Pet Peeves. Along the way, we have joined Dogs With Blogs and met lots of other cool dogs. We even have a couple of cat friends, Zeus and Bobkat (this is really a human with a cat but close enough), a hamster friend, Fufu, and one really big lizard friend, Chicote. We would love to list all of our friends (and we see that we don't even have a link for everyone here on our blog; note to Mom: fix this), but there just isn't enough space! Just know that we are glad we have you as friends; we love blogging and we love reading your blogs.

Update on the SECRET

Well, dogs (and cats), we found out we can "let the cat out of the bag" (tell the secret) on Monday. Mom says all the paperwork will be signed and dog biscuits will be handed over. Some of you have guessed a new dachsie-limo but Mom says that is not necessary as the current one has less than 30,000 miles on it. She did say it was bigger than a dachsie-limo even bigger than a stretch dachsie-limo ... and we will love it!

Not much is happening here. Mom is working a lot doing her regular job and getting ready for auditors. She says they are coming next Monday too (like the secret) so the day is not all wonderful. She has been taking pictures of us but the camera is in the den and the computer is in the office and she is too lazy to walk to the den to get the camera. (She will tell you she wants to make our entry and doesn't have time to go get the camera and download pictures before she needs to leave for work.) Hopefully we will have some more pictures for you next time ... right, Mom???

Since we can't tell the secret yet and we don't have any pictures yet, we guess we will let you go read an interesting blog ... right, Mom?

So Sorry ...

Hmmph! Mom is doing it again ... or NOT doing it again ... as in helping us blog. She has been pretty busy and then really lazy. She says she is busy with work because auditors are coming to visit. We don't know what that is about but we already don't like them since she keeps going to the office on OUR days to have her. By the time she gets home, she says she doesn't have any energy to type up an entry for us but we demanded that she make an entry today. We are getting messages about our dog friends missing us. Even if we aren't doing anything interesting, we need to let everydog know we are okay.

We are still working on finding out the BIG secret. Mom did tell us she is buying something and it must be big because she also told us it will take LOTS and LOTS of dog biscuits to buy. She says it will be worth it though. What could possibly be worth that many dog biscuits if it isn't dog biscuits?

Mom was a little grumpy yesterday. She did her taxes. (And no, that is not the BIG secret.) The taxes aren't due for three more weeks but she didn't want to wait until the last minute. We bet she waits until the last minute to send the check though!

Maybe doing her taxes is why she came home early today. She said she had a headache. She took some pills and laid down without us! How unfair is that? It's okay for her to sleep in the big bed at night without us but we should have total access during the day if she is going to lay down. She says she can't sleep with us because Sammy is always checking to see if she is still breathing. He can't help it if his nose is cold!

Well, Mom wants to get to bed so we have to say good night. Hopefully she will help us make more than one entry per week. Keep your paws crossed!

Not the Big Secret but ...

This still isn't the big secret but today is Mom's birthday! She said since she is the one that types this up, she can edit it, so she took out the line where we told you how old she is today. Anyway, we let her sleep in a little later this morning but we still got her up in time to get to work. Aunt Bec is taking her out for dinner tonight so we might not have a chance to make an entry later. We hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Still a Secret

We have been trying to find out Mom's secret but she isn't telling. We know she has talked to our Grandpa and our human uncle in the last few days so they must be involved in this secret too. Pretty soon one of them will let slip a hint and we will be on it like the great hunters we are!

It's very late. Mom had to put new batteries in the thermostat once she realized the house was getting hotter and not cooler. Since she likes it to be like a meat locker in the house when she sleeps, she checked the thermostat to find out what was happening. It was 75 degrees (Fahrenheit)! She couldn't find the manual so she decided she had the Internet at her fingertips so she looked up the model number and found the users manual on line. A minute or two later, she had cold air again. Since she wanted it to cool down a bit before she tried to sleep, she decided to help us with another entry. But it is cool now and we need our beauty sleep.

Rain, Rain has Gone Away

It finally stopped raining.

And our Internet connection is back to working all of the time.

And we finally got Mom to sit down to make an entry for us.





Unfortunately, not much doggie news has happened. We haven't even gotten any new toys. Mom has been watching basketball which is fine with us because she sits on the sofa and we can sit on her. Her team is winning so that means we get another chance to sit on her while she watches the next game!

Maggie and Jake have come to visit a couple of times so that is fun too.



We are hoping to go to the country house again soon. We need to see if there are any new cowdogs and to make sure the old ones have stayed out of the yard! We also need to check on the house. After 11 years, someone broke into the house and stole some things. Grandpa had to get the back door fixed and he added some security features. He wants to make sure his grandpuppies are safe. Silly Grandpa doesn't realize we can chase off burglars and thieves! Oh, Mom just asked us who was supposed to chase them off when we are back in town. Ok, maybe it's a good thing he added those things. We want the house to be safe even if we aren't out there!

Mom is up to something but she says she won't tell us until the deal is closed because we would blab it all over the Internet. She seems really excited about it. We will see if we can get any other information out of her and let you know. (Is that blabbing it all over the Internet, if we tell you?)

As you can see, it's been basically boring. Even if we find something to bark at, Mom makes us stop. Thanks to everyone for leaving us messages about missing us. It's nice to know that we have so many great friends!
