The Escape Route, Mom Found the Stash and Roxie

Hey Dogs, Cats and GirlGirl! Andy here.

Last time, Sammy told you all about going on a great adventure. Aunt Bec found the escape route and here is a picture of it.

You'll notice there is already a board across the bottom of the fence because Mom thought the bottom edge was the most likely area we would use. Little did she know that Roxie and Sammy have been slowly digging out by breaking up the board. The reason the picture is in shadow is because the hole was behind the magnolia trees. Needless to say, it is blocked now. Mom bought some nails and will be nailing the new board in place and we will be captive again.

Mom has also been trying to find the tennis balls. I carry one out every time I go outside, so she knew there must be some out there somewhere. She looked under the magnolia tree and she looked all around. Finally she looked in the doghouse and found one.

But wait a second! What is that at the very back of the doghouse? BUSTED!

I was hoping she would buy me some new ones so I could have lots and lots of tennis balls but I guess that isn't going to happen.

And finally, we haven't posted any doggie pictures in a while. We posed for our Christmas card picture today. We will show you some of the funnier rejects later but here is a pretty one of Roxie. Once we left, she made herself comfortable. Roxie hopes Thrawn and Pippa both like it.

Well, gotta go. Mom is going to a wedding tonight. She says she needs to get a nap in so she can party the night away. Yeah, right ...

The Old Doghouse

Well, we told you about the new doghouse that will hold people and dogs AND we told you we would show your our very own doghouse that is not for people. We like our doghouse. It is extra long so we can get inside and it has a nice thick cushion for us so we can rest our delicate doggie butts. It also has a long roof over the front door so rain cannot get inside. Here is a picture of the doghouse. It needs a new coat of paint and Mom never put the shingles on it. (The shingles are still nicely stacked in the garage where Grandpaw put them.)

In case you can't tell that it is extra long, we are modeling next to it. See how it is longer than we are? It makes it very nice when Mom is mean and locks us outside while it is raining.

The doghouse was built by Mom and the ex-boyfriend who gave Roxie to Mom. They had some "how to build a doghouse" plans but did the modifications themselves. Mom says that after building the doghouse with him, she is sure she could do it herself. Her only concern is getting the wood screws into the wood. That took a little bit of muscle.

Here is one last shot of our doghouse. This picture is special because you can see the path we have worn down in Mom's grass. That path is the shortest distance from the back door, across the patio and around to the back of the garage.

One last thing, two of Mom's patio chairs are usually sitting next to the doghouse. They protect it a little more from the weather. Mom says she moved the chairs so you could see the doghouse. We think she moved the chairs because the cushions are all ripped up and look horrible. She doesn't want you to know that they look as bad as they do! But, in her defense, she isn't the one who jumps up on them and scratches around until we ... scratches around to get comfortable.
