Happy Birthday, Grandma!

Today is our Grandma's birthday!!

Since Mom is ancient, Grandma is 23 years older than ancient (but she's is still younger than Grandpa). Grandma loves us and pets us and gives us treats and lets us stay at her (and Grandpa's) country house and bark at the cowdogs. What more you could possibly need to have the perfect Grandma?

Oh, and she is beautiful.

And she is smart. She told Mom that the decorated tree was a honey locust. You can pretty much know that if Mom comes back with more information about something in the country, Grandma gave Mom the information.

Grandma had surgery on her knee a couple of weeks ago and is doing her exercises every day. We hope she gets all better. Mom won't take us to see her because we jump too much and we might hurt Grandma if we jumped against her and she fell down. We don't even want to think about how much trouble we would be in if that happened! No, no, let's think happy thoughts!

Anyway, Happy Birthday, Grandma! We love you! Thank you for being so sweet. Thank you for showing Mom how to spoil dachsies. Just one thing, could you teach Mom to be a little sweeter? She has too many rules!

Not the Big Secret but ...

This still isn't the big secret but today is Mom's birthday! She said since she is the one that types this up, she can edit it, so she took out the line where we told you how old she is today. Anyway, we let her sleep in a little later this morning but we still got her up in time to get to work. Aunt Bec is taking her out for dinner tonight so we might not have a chance to make an entry later. We hope everyone is having a wonderful day!

Rain, DST and Grandpa's Birthday!!

Hello, everydog!

Well, every time Mom goes to make an entry for us from home, the connection drops again. She has left some comments for us at a few blogs but even that is short lived. We asked her to make an entry for us from work since we don't think she does anything important there anyway.

We have been getting LOTS of rain. In fact, it rained and thundered so much last night that Sammy had to bark at it to protect Mom. It was persistant and took a long time to leave.

Today we are under a severe thunderstorm watch and it has been thundering a lot more. Mom isn't at home to know for sure but we are barking at the thunder again.

Last weekend we went to Daylight Savings Time which means Mom moved the clock up one hour. We think that is really a stupid thing because there is still the same amount of daylight. The good part is we get fed an hour earlier and Mom gets home an hour earlier. The bad thing is we have to go to bed an hour earlier and Mom says she has to get up an hour earlier.

Today is Grandpa's birthday! We hope it isn't supposed to be a secret because we are telling that he is 76 today. (Now you understand why we always say Mom is old!)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDPA! WE LOVE YOU!!

Well, Mom says she needs to get some more work done. They don't pay her to keep our blog up to date. We think she needs to find a job that will pay her for that!

Sorry that we don't have any pictures. Mom has old pictures on her work computer. All of the new stuff is at home. Keep your paws crossed that we have good Internet connection after all of this rain.

We Almost Forgot!

We are so excited about Christmas coming, we almost forgot to tell everyone that Christmas day is also Roxie's birthday. She will be 3! She is a big girl now but still acts like a puppy around Mom. Mom falls for it every time. We know everyone will be busy with family and celebrations but we hope a few of you can stop by to wish Roxie "Happy Birthday".

A Birthday for a Special Lady

Today is Shelly's birthday. Most of you don't know Shelly but she started Dachshund Rescue of Houston. Because of her efforts to build a network of volunteers, lots of dachsies have found fur-ever homes. Sammy, Andy, Maggie and Jake are all lucky dogs because of Shelly's work and dedication. Sammy has a special bond to Shelly since she was his foster mom three different times when people kept bringing him back. Shelly brought Sammy to Mom and Mom liked her as soon as she met her. Shelly kept Sammy safe for Mom until Mom could get him.

Shelly is special to us and we want to let everyone know.
