Rising From the Mist

Okay, we aren't really rising from the mist but we do figure you are wondering what has happened to us. We think we've said this before about the laptop computer being a great idea for reading but not so great for typing up new entries. The regular computer and keyboard is a lot easier to use. That said, our mom is just lazy. She is home now so she doesn't have any excuse about being tired or busy or whatever other excuse she tries to use.

If you have been reading Mona's blog, you know that she and her Mommy have been out to visit us a couple of times. We are glad that they have been keeping you posted about what is going on with us.

Mona mentioned that our mailbox was attacked on Christmas night. Here is what it looks like now.

You probably understand why Mom and Mona's mommy had to go buy a new mailbox!

Now for the rest of the story.

When Mom realized she couldn't mount the new mailbox on the old post, she went to the post office and put in a "hold order" so they wouldn't try to deliver the mail. She put the hold on until the 10th so she would have some time to get the work done. Well, the new mailbox went up on Jan 1. Mom tried to get to the post office on Friday, Jan 2, to get the collected mail and stop the "hold order" but she had to work too late and didn't make it in time. The post office is closed on weekends so Mom was going to go on Monday. Imagine her surprise when she, just because, checked the mailbox on Saturday and found all of her mail and her "hold order" in the box. You have got to love small town mail service. The mailman knew what was wrong with the box and, when he saw the new one installed, he knew Mom would want her mail so he brought it to her and cancelled the "hold order" for her. After living in Houston (which is the 4th largest city in the USA) for 15 years where the mailman wouldn't know Mom and wouldn't do anything like that, it was something really nice to experience.

Today has been a beautiful day. Mom took some pictures of the area.

North end of the back yard facing south

South end of the back yard facing north

South end of the front yard facing north

From the front door facing east

The north front yard facing west (toward the back yard)

All of those pictures are much nicer than a smashed mailbox! You can see why we love it out here and why Mona and her Mommy love to come visit!

We will look through the pictures that we have been collecting and figure out what we can show you tomorrow.

We're glad your mailman is so nice and delivered all your mail. You have a HUGE yard! It looks like it would be really fun to explore and do zoomies in.

Glad you are back :-)
