More Hurricane Ike and More Awards!

Hello everydog, cat, GirlGirl and person!

It's been almost a week since Ike blew into town. Our Aunt Bec stayed here through Monday night. By Tuesday morning, the power was back on at her office but not her house. We decided that Maggie and Jake should stay here so Aunt Bec could stay at our Houston house because it had power. Since Mom and Aunt Bec spent hours cleaning it up, they really didn't want a couple of dogs in there making a mess. Can you believe the nerve of some people? Like we puppy dogs are messy ... we bathe ourselves all of the time! Anyway, Aunt Bec is coming back this weekend. She had planned to be here this coming weekend anyway. Last weekend was the surprise visit so we can thank Ike for something.

Mona and the Mommy still don't have any lights, television, computer or anything that requires electricity. The Mommy has been going to work since she has a job at a hospital in Houston and they need as many people there as possible. The Mommy talked to a doctor last night who had been living in his office since Friday night. The Mommy said he looked really tired.

Even though we are inland, we still have some hurricane effects. There were people without power but we think they have it back now. There are lots of evacuees who have nothing to go home to since Ike smashed up everything along the coast line. The hotels are full of evacuees and there is a football game this weekend and most of the fans have reservations to stay in the hotels. Mom is glad she doesn't have to decide what to do. Yesterday there was a scare that the gasoline was almost gone but there have been some tankers around and Mom pulled right up to a pump and got gasoline last night. Mom went to the grocery store tonight and the only thing she saw odd was the bread section was mostly empty. Mom saw the kind of bread she likes so she got an extra loaf. Our Grandma and Grandpaw still don't have power but someone loaned them a generator. They can cook and keep the food in the refrigerator cold but they can't run the air conditioner. Thankfully, the weather has gotten cooler so people are not baking in the heat and humidity!

Well, that's enough about the problems around here. Now we want to tell you some good news! Look at the award we got!

We got this award from Dannan, the little brown dog. He and his girl are some new friends. If you haven't met them yet, please follow the link and leave a comment. We can all understand the pleasure of getting comments! Dannan is really lucky. Not only did he find the girl who really, really loves him, but a group raised money to get him a surgery. He lost a leg but he gets around just fine and he is a sweet puppy. We won't tell you anything else. If you want to get to know Dannan and his girl, you need to go to his blog and read all about him!

Well, Mom says she has some other things to do so we are going to close. We need for her to add our award to our sidebar so we don't want to keep her too long. You know how old people can get. Mom will turn into Grumpy and then Aunt Bec with turn into Aunt Cranky and we would rather play with copperhead snakes. (Just kidding.)

Talk to you later!

Congrats on the award. We like Dannan and his girl too. Sounds like things could be better, but could sure be worse for you. What a mess Ike made. It is such a blessing that the weather turned after Ike. No ac 2 weeks ago would have been horrible. So Mona and her mommy are ok. Do you know Mack the boston terrier? We haven't heard from him either, and he lives in Houston.

No more storms for awhile!!

Hugs
Sunny&Scooter
Watch out for the snakes!

We just wanted to stop by and see how you're doing. Believe us, we know the aftermath of a hurricane -- no power, lots of mess, waiting in line for gas, ice, water after a few days.

But recovery comes and then, when the sun comes out and the A/C is back on and all the debris is gone - - you sigh and say, gee we were lucky!!

Woofs pals,

Glad that you are OK after your hurricane - we have been following it on the net and the devastation is incredible.

Special kisses to darling Roxie, you are such a brave patient and so tough every time those nasty copperheads try and have a go at you.
